I have been testing Dot5Hosting for a little under a year and have found it be reliable. With any shared hosting there was a few issues with abuse from other shared customers that Dot5 seemed to take care of within a few hours....

For two years dot5hosting was pretty good--they had great prices and acceptable customer service. Once in a while the site would go down for a couple of hours, but it was rare enough not to be a huge issue at $5 a month. But last week they destroyed my site's PHP database. They claim that my files are gone and even though they admit their database was down, they say that they won't do anything about it without charging me a fee. Their service is terrible--offshored to India with limited English, and they haven't followed through on any of their promised emails or phone calls. I'm now fleeing as fast as I can. STAY AWAY!...

I'm the new webmaster for a professional association site, and their current administrator has been working with dot5hosting maybe for years and probably has a special deal with them, so he won't let me switch hosting providers. So I'm stuck here with dot5hosting wich is the worst hosting I ever had the experience to work with.
For example, the ftp connection supports only 80 simultaneous users and most of the day all the slots are occupied, so I cannot work with the site until after midnight or so. And that's not all with this, they limit the ftp connection of a single IP address to 4 simultaneous connections... but their ftp server won't close the connections after you log off, so after four uses, I get block for the rest of the day and part of the next one. So the only thing I have left to keep working with is their awfully bad file manager in vDeck. I cannot create php, css or other files directly, you first have to make a html or txt file, then rename it, then open it and work ...

These guys are bad news. Do not use them. Run away, far away. After 12 hours on the phone, 2 weeks, 5 emails and 10 chat sessions, they could not figure out how to point a DNS server. StartLogic did this in 10 minutes. At best these guys are idiots. At worst these guys are frauds and conmen....

I was happy the 1st year but I asked for my account to be canceled in 2006 and they charged my card anyway. I asked them for a refund but they wouldn't. The fun thing was, they charge you in advance for their service so straight after they charged me, they shut my account down. I thought I'd just let it go, but the bastards try to charge me again on year 3. My credit card number had changed to they couldn't auto charge me. I brought it back up with them that they owe me either a years free service or my money back. They wouldn't give me either. Beware of these people. They are dishonest and their support team is very very frustrating. Can't recommend them, actually I'd like to discourage people from using their service....

You're talking about Dot5 an Startlogic ? The one should be better than the other ? Forget it, thy are one and the same company. So what you will get with one, you will get with the other.
As long as you're nice and pay up, no problem. But try to get rid of them …. You receive a number of requests to fill in this or that form - you never asked for that - and those forms have only one aim : to hoax you in providing your actual updated account name, address, e-mail and most importantly your VISA account. And so they can bill you for another year. The best yet : they will send you one more form to fill in and then you should be rid of them. Only ….. all you get on your screen is a completely blank form. No contents at all. Have a nice time trying to get rid of these frauds.

This is the worst hosting ever offered. Sure the price is right, which is what gets you hooked. After that you do not get help, you cannot understand most of the customer service reps due to broken english. Your website just sits there in mid internet space because they do not hook you up with any search engines that are worth anything! I wished I would have gambled my money away on scratch tickets instead of this horrible hosting!! Absolutely the WORST!!! If I could give them a zero I would!!...
