Google- Highlights
Uncategorized December 7th, 2006The personal information of many Johnston County residents, such as Social Security and phone numbers, can be found on the Internet by using a popular search engine, and county officials want it to stop.
Today, Johnston County will seek a temporary restraining order against the Google company to remove links to the site listing the sensitive material.
The county accidentally posted the information on the Web, after Bi-Tek, a Charlotte tax billing software company, mistakenly released the information instead of only releasing names and addresses as usual.
The posted material went unnoticed for about six weeks. Though county officials removed the information as soon as they were notified of the mistake, bits and pieces can still be found over the Internet by using Google, which retains information, the News & Observer reported. However, Google has told the county it must fill out a form and wait five days for the information to be removed.
I believe 5 days is a long time to fix this issue it is a matter of personal information which has to be taken care of immediately though google is one of the top most site hope all the infromation is removed soon as possible.
